THE LAURENTIAN ROOM CELEBRATES THREE SWEET YEARS
TORONTO — The Laurentian Room Restaurant and Lounge is back from summer hiatus. “We’re celebrating our third anniversary and getting involved in some great neighbourhood events. It’s been a tremendous three years,†says Proprietor Trevor Berryman.
On Wednesday September 5, The Laurentian Room welcomes the invasion of Australian wines as part of the Cabbagetown Wine Route, offering a four course Tasting Menu & Wine Match for an inclusive $40 per person.
The Laurentian is also on Cabbagetown’s very successful “Tour of Homes†event on the weekend of September 15-16. “Taste For The Arts,†on September 29, is another Laurentian favourite, a local charity that raises funds for the Cabbagetown Community Arts Centre, providing music, art and dance lessons to underprivileged inner city kids.
To kick-start The Laurentian’s reopening, Berryman called in Consulting Chef Carlos Fuenmayor to help him create a menu. They call it Sabores de Las Americas or The Flavours of The Americas, a celebration of Latino food and culture.
Fuenmayor is owner of Sabrosito. He gives cooking classes at Great Cooks, Dish and the LCBO, their featured chef this season. He writes a food blog and contributes to the popular online foodie magazine gremolata.com.
“Chef Carlos’s Latino background comes through loud, clear and delicious,†writes Joanne Kates in The Globe & Mail. “Carlos brings an enthusiasm, passion and creative vision for cuisine that’s only reserved for those great chefs that have truly found their calling,†adds Berryman.
The Laurentian’s September schedule is Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Beginning September 25, The Laurentian will be open Tuesday to Saturday.
